If travel is intended, then look for other resources of transportation. The automobile isn't the only way to get around! Carpooling, buses, subways, trains, bicycles, airplanes, and walking are other resources available, so we should put them to use as well. Sooner or later, the market will change.

It does not help when big oil and the refiners are creating false shortages by producing less fuel and raising the fuel prices at the pump. Driving less, using less fuel has no affect and conservation does not work. Those speculators will keep fuel prices up - because they can. I don't buy enough gas for it to make much difference. Time to get a bicycle?

Even if you are not in the lower income brackets, where it takes a larger percentage of your income to pay for fuel, you pay for higher fuel prices and surcharges that bring everything to consumers.
