Some stations can be updated by visiting users if there has not been a recently reported registered user price at a station. We recognize that some people do not like committing to things online like registering an account, but still find value in participating and using our service, which we do appreciate. Visitor prices do tend to be more abusive to the system, most of these prices are manually reviewed before being listed, if the prices are updating existing member prices, these will not normally update.

Thanks much, Don & Bucksworth - but the obvious question is WHY does GB allow posting of prices by people not signed in??? There are already enough false postings without allowing any (other) bozo to post stuff - enough that I have two currently running threads in Cincinnati alone on such things. . This username in particular has not actually posted any prices to any station in any particular area, it was registered under the name Visitor before we allowed visiting user prices to be displayed on the sites and apps. 'Visitor' prices are any prices posted by someone who does not have an account, or is not logged into their account, this is a system given name to all GB sites and apps. There’s really no reason to report this particular name for abuse or for posting bad prices, because it has not been active since it’s registration in Feb 2001. I hope this explanation helps.

Visitor is a GasBuddy who signed up to be a member and chose the name "Visitor". Visitor received 100 points for joining and never posted any prices (at least not while logged in to a GasBuddy site). Visitor never did anything else to gain points. Thus, this GasBuddy still has only 100 points. If a price is posted by a non-member or by a GasBuddy who is not logged in, the credit for that post goes to a Visitor, and the name stamp on the right side of the post says "Visitor". Since the site's software does not know that the post was made by a real visitor, clicking on "Visitor" will take you to member Visitor's profile. So it is not one member posting prices all over North America, it is thousands of real visitors posting prices. Okay... well, it's possible that GasBuddy Visitor is also mischievously posting prices while not logged in, just to annoy us. If so, he/she has a lot of help from real visitors, some of whom cannot post a price accurately.
