Crummy Day For Crude Oil

Forbes.com -- The energy pits were a gauntlet Friday, as a stronger dollar put a dent in crude prices and oil stocks followed black gold lower.

Crude settled at $80.68 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down 1.9% after a run-up earlier this week when prices approached $84 a barrel. Traders have been hoping that growth in emerging markets like China and India could help the commodity continue its surge off its February 2009 lows, but tighter monetary policy in those nations threatens to cool their economic growth.

It will be a good day when the US drills for its own oil and doesn't let the Russians drill for oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

"Traders have been hoping".................If Congress would outlaw the trading of commodities and Obama would stop printing money, the dollar would continue to strengthen and this great nation would regain its position as a world financial leader.

If the traders and speculators on the CBOE and NYME make money in up and down markets - too bad they don't have a concious and somehow drive the oil price down. The Saudis have made billions, they can live with $38 dollar oil, they don't need $80-$100 oil.

With slacking demand there is no reason for oil to be above $70 / barrel anyway.

See no tears from me, especially as gasoline prices continuing to rise. If crude fell to $20/bbl Exxon et al would still make huge profits.

Great for prices. I agree with previous posters on the fragility of the dollar and the danger of devaluation and inflated oil prices as a result.

Sounds like consumers need crude oil to have MANY more crummy days. Let those traders stew in their own oil. As long as oil continues to go up we can see our economy flounder or fall further.

Oil was up and as a result all other stocks fell. Like I have said before, with high energy prices, the economy can never recover.

Today the SPECULATORs & MANIPULATORs have posted two more articles, in hopes of getting more amateur SPECULATORs sucked into the SPECULATOR & MANIPULATOR game. Yes, I have been tracking SPECULATOR postings on this site for weeks. The least number of articles designed to increase speculation on any one day has been two. Today it is two out of five. Experienced SPECULATORs tend to win more profits as more of those not deeply experienced in commodity speculation get into the game. It is very similar to a poker game in that respect. The new players/ SPECULATOR s normally get their clocks cleaned and the experienced players/ SPECULATOR s increase their winnings. Like I said, it is just like in poker games, suck the inexperienced in and clean their clocks or rather pockets.
Does this site live up to its motto of, "Consumers working together to save on gas?” Or, does this site support speculation and manipulation of the price of gas?

There is no such thing as crummy day when the price of crude goes down. Oh, remember to take the price of gas with you. It went up 7 cents in my area since yesterday.
